Tingeys were well known retailers in Hatfield for many years, with shops selling furniture, ironmongery and groceries.

In 1998, Janet Robinson, née Tingey, gave a talk to “Hatfield This Century” (forerunner of Hatfield Local History Society) about her family’s history and its effects on Hatfield. The talk, plus further family inputs and local research formed the basis of this booklet.
