WW1

The Society researched a total of 1006 Men who left Hatfield to go to War.

Of the 1006 men that left Hatfield, 180 sadly, lost their lives, while 826 survived.

The list was compiled from the following. a) The Bishops Hatfield Parish magazine published on a monthly basis the names of the men who had joined up, where they lived, and the Regiment they joined. b) The 1920 records, of the Hatfield Parish Council’s Souvenir Committee.  A letter was sent out to all households within the Parish by this committee, stating if a member of your household was living or working in the parish when they joined the armed forces they would be entitled to a souvenir.  c) The Hatfield War Memorials.
